Wilbert A. "Willie" Niebrugge, 76, of rural Watson, Illinois died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Carle
Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham, Illinois. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Effingham, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony schools or the donor's choice. Willie was born Jan. 21, 1937, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Edward J. and Rose (Esker) Niebrugge. He married Carol A. Will on Oct. 17, 1959, at Sacred Heart Church in Lillyville (Teutopolis), Illinois. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Anthony High School and served in the National Guard.

He worked for the Effingham Equity for 44 years and retired in 1999. Willie was actively engaged in raising cattle and other livestock for the entirety of his life, and he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He and Carol raised seven sons and are also the proud grandparents of 18.

Willie loved to work hard and could create nearly any tool that was necessary or fix any equipment that needed repair. Willie also loved camping, splitting wood and playing cards. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Willie was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Effingham, Illinois, the National Rifle Association, the Simmental Association, Effingham Knights of Columbus 665 and former board member of the Effingham Sportsman Club.

Survivors include Carol, his wife; sons, Gary L. (Debbie) Niebrugge of Watson, Illinois; Brian F. (special friend, Betty Watson) of Effingham, Illinois; Jeffrey R. of Teutopolis, Illinois; Kevin H. (Misty) of Watson, Illinois; Mark D. (Amy) of rural Effingham, Illinois; and Daniel J. (Toni) of Watson, Illinois; brothers, Virgil (Mary) of Effingham, Illinois; James (Alice) of Teutopolis, Illinois; sisters, Florence Doedtman of Effingham, Illinois; and Bertha Bushur of Effingham, Illinois; sister-in-law, Zita Niebrugge; mother-in-law, Dolores Will of Teutopolis, Illinois; grandchildren, Kristin Williamson of Urbana, Illinois; Katherine (Jacob) Clark of Jacksonville, Florida; Jennifer (fiance, Austin Brooks) Niebrugge of Watson, Illinois Kyle and Matthew Niebrugge of Watson, Illinois; Tyler Niebrugge of Collinsville, Illinois; Lance Niebrugge of Terre Haute, Indiana; Dylan, Devin and Colin Niebrugge of Teutopolis, Illinois; Brody Niebrugge of Watson, Illinois; Will, Audrey and Grace Niebrugge of rural Effingham, Illinois; Hunter, Blake and Hailey Niebrugge of Watson, Illinois; great-grandson, Evan Williamson of Urbana, Illinois; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and god children.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Rose Niebrugge; his son, Douglas Edward; his brother, Leroy; father-in-law, Vincent Will; brothers-in-law, Frank Doedtman and Harold Bushur.
