Florence M. Doedtman, 93, of Effingham, IL, formerly of Shumway, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Willowbrook Memory Support Residence in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary's Church Cemetery in Shumway.

Florence was born on August 2, 1928 in Effingham County, IL, the first of six children born to Edward and Rose (Esker) Niebrugge. She attended St. Anthony's School. She married Frank J. Doedtman on June 12, 1948 at St. Anthony's Church, Effingham. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before his passing on August 13, 2004.

Florence was a member of St. Mary's Church, Shumway, St. Mary's CCW, volunteer at Effingham Catholic Charities and St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, sewing and making quilts for members of her family.

Florence is survived by her children, Mary Beth (Gerald) Hoene of Stewardson, Gene (Linda) Doedtman, Dorothy (Rick) Hankins, Tom (Helen) Doedtman, Dave (Vanessa) Doedtman, all of Shumway, and Lisa (Thad) Leach of Owensville, MO; grandchildren, Rodney Hoene, Bradley Hoene, Corey Hoene, Chad Hankins, Paula Tripp, Erik Doedtman, Emily Doedtman, Dustin Doedtman, Hannah Johnson, Grace Doedtman, Audra Doedtman, Sarah Doedtman, Gavin Leach, Sophia Hansen, Phoebe Leach, and Calliope Leach; and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Bertha Bushur of Effingham; brothers, Jim (Alice) Niebrugge of Teutopolis and Virgil (Mary) Niebrugge of Effingham; and sister-in-law, Carol Niebrugge of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Ronald; siblings and in-laws, Wilbert Niebrugge, Leroy and Zita Niebrugge and Harold Bushur.

The Doedtman family would like to thank the many healthcare workers at The Glenwood, Willowbrook, and HSHS Hospice for the compassionate care given to Florence over the last few years.
