This is a translation of the obituary written for Andreas Kubitz by Pastor Jan Kilian:

He was born in Riegel on 9 March 1843. His father was Johann Kubitz, gardener in Riegel, the late mother was Anna née Bernhard from Spohla by Hoyerswerda. He was baptized Andres. In his childhood he was well brought up and sent to school, where he received the necessary education in religion and other knowledge. After confirmation he worked now and then until he came to America two years ago.

With regard to his last illness, for a week before his death he had a fever and for the last two weeks was bedfast. Last Thursday he received the Lord's Supper and strengthened through that departed from us last Friday [a week ago] at 8:45 a.m. He was 28 years and six months old.

He left behind his father; two brothers and four sisters in Europe; and other friends far and near.

Thank you to Matthes Domaschk and his wife Anna for demonstrated help and love; to John Schiwart and his wife Anna for all the love and help; to John Schneider, farmer, for visits; to Johann Hanusch for visits; to Ernst Lehman and Johann Schiwart for demonstrations of help; to Matthes Domaschk for transporting the body; to both grave diggers, the pallbearers, and all who were present to mourn.

The hymn 478, "Come and Look At Me, Mankind."
