Philip Schwarzkopf, 81, retired farmer from the Wall Lake-Breda community living at 1303 North West Street in Carroll, died about 7 a .m. Tuesday, April 10, at St. Anthony Hospital. He had been in falling health for about two years and seriously ill and hospitalized for the past week.

Solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9:30 Thursday morning April 12, at St. Lawrence Church by the Rev. Peter Fransco. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery, Breda.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Tuesday. The rosary will be recited by Charles Carroll Council Knights of Columbus, at 8 p.m. Tuesday; and another rosary ls scheduled for 9 p.m. on Wednesday, the rosary will be recited at 3, 8, 8:30 and 9 p.m. The 8:30 recitation will be by the Catholic Order of Foresters, Breda, of which he was a 50-year member.

Mr. Schwarzkopf is survived by his wife Anna; his children, [...]; 22 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Franz Rutten, Breda.

He was born June 22, 1880, at Wall Lake, a son of Bruno and Theresa Schwarzkopf. On Aug. 28, 1911, he was married to Anna Mary Wenzel at St. Joseph Church, Wall Lake, with the late Rev. M. C. Daly officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Schwarzkopf celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Aug. 28, 1961, with a jubilee mass at St. Lawrence Church and a dinner in the church hall, followed by a reception for about 300 guests.

After their marriage, the couple lived on the farm where Mr. Schwarzkopf was born, 4 miles west and 4 3/4 miles north of Breda. They remained there until retiring and moving to Carroll in March, 1952. Before moving to Carroll he had held several offices in Sac County, as well as in St. Bernard Church in Breda. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church, and Charles Carroll Council, Knights of Columbus, in addition to the Foresters at Breda.
