Funeral services for John F. Sacarias were held on Sunday, April 5, at 2 p.m. from the Finnish Apostolic church in Moe township. Arvie Isaacs officiated. The pallbearers were Edwin Adamson, Edwin Kvitek, John Hulkonen, Walter Josephson, John Haabala and Emanuel Lidberg. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
John F. Sacarias was born in Urness township, Douglas county, Minn., on March 22, 1900, the son of Fred and Elina Sacarias. He grew to manhood in this community and as a young man he was employed on the Iron Range. On Aug. 6, 1922, he was united in marriage to Hildie Elkie at Chisholm. After their marriage, they made their home on the Iron Range at Hibbing, Virginia and Chisholm. In 1944, they came to Alexandria and later bought a home on Lake Oscar where Mr. Sacarias presently maintained his residence. For the past six years he had been employed in Minneapolis.
Mr Sacarias passed away in Minneapolis on Wednesday, April 1, at the age of 59 years and eight days. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hilda Sacarias; one brother, Cleve Sacarias, of Deer River; and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Carlstrom and Lillian Sacarias, both of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George; and a sister, Mayme
