Mrs. Elizabeth Artkamp succumbed After Long And Useful Life
Mrs. Elizabeth Artkamp, died on last Monday morning at 10 a.m. Her maiden name was Schmiesing and she was born on a farm near Egypt which is now occupied by Louis Schmiesing. Her birth occurred on July 8, 1855, so that she was aged 71 years, 4 months and 29 days at the time of her death.
Mrs. Artkamp had been a resident in Minster for a period of years until about the first of last October when she was taken away because it was necessary to give her constant attention. She was living in the B. Budde property on north Lincoln street and was contented with her surroundings when a chronic disease forced a change in her plans. She was taken from this place to the home of her son, Ben Artkamp, who lives with his family on a farm west of Ft. Loramie. The sickness that eventually caused her death was declared to be cancer of the stomach.
She is survived by the following brother and sisters, J. Bernard Schmiesing of Egypt, Mrs. John Stueve of Osgood, Mrs. John Berning and Mrs. J.B. Friemering of Minster.
During her young womanhood she was married to Henry Artkamp who died thirty-four years ago. The following sons and daughters are living, Ben Artkamp of Ft. Loramie, William and Harry Artkamp of Dayton, Mrs. Fred Ruemping of Dayton, Mrs. John Gausepohl of Minster. There are also seventeen grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Augustine congregation in Minster and the funeral will be held there with members of the St. Monica Ladies Society, in which circle she was one, in attendance. Internment will be in the church cemetery on Friday morning.
