Mrs. Lavina Caroline Louise Rueffler passed away at the Stettler Nursing Home on Sunday Sept, 8, 2002.

Lavina was born in Brodhagen, ON on Feb. 8, 1909, the youngest child of Henry and Ricka Bauer. In 1912, the Bauer family boarded a train and moved to the Stettler area to begin farming. Music was a big part of Lavina's childhood with piano lessons being taken and carpets being rolled up for dances that were always held at the Bauer household.

In 1933, Lavina married George Rueffler, and together they lived in the Stettler area where they farmed and raised their five children.

Even though Lavina had taken secretarial and shorthand classes, it was her employment at the local bakery that sparked her love for baking. Along with her passion for baking, Lavina had another love… her garden. She spent many hours hoeing it to perfection, shelling the peas and canning every vegetable that came out of it.

Lavina was predeceased by her husband, George, parents, daughter Sylvia Weigum, son-in-law, Lloyd Weigum, sister Frieda and brother Edwin. Lavina will be lovingly remembered by everyone whose life she touched.
