Gary was born on Jan. 13, 1945, in Omaha, Neb., the son of the late Gilbert and Anna (Osterbuhr) Pefferman. He served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served as past commander of the American Legion in Akron, Iowa. He worked many years as a technician for Cable One, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed hunting and reading. He loved his dogs.
He married Bonnie Otte, on July 5, 1980, in Bellevue, Neb. and she survives. Additional survivors include, one son, Aaron Conover and wife, Amy, Holstein, Iowa; four daughters, Nicole Pefferman, Joplin, Natalie Parish and husband, Travis, Joplin, Amy Madsen, Holstein, Iowa and Angie Rohlf and husband, Joe, Arthur, Iowa; one sister, Dixie Madsen and husband, Jim, Cottonwood, Ariz.; ten grandchildren, Paxten, Crew, Izik, Kayden, Tylar, Brecken, Kaitlynn, Christopher, Jonathan and Isabelle; and two nieces, Lori and Julie.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Jeff Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
