Hays -- Helen Unrein, 96, Hays, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at Hays Good Samaritan Center. Mrs. Unrein was born Helen Weber on April 9, 1904, at Liebenthal.

She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society Christian Mothers and Eagle's Auxiliary, where she was a charter member and past president.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendeline, in 1990; and two sons, Alvin W. and Sylvester.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Lorine Bollig and Aletha Denning, both of Hays; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, the Rev. Don Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. An Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today, followed by an Eagle's Auxiliary service at 6 p.m., a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a parish vigil at 7 p.m. at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, Hays 67601.

Memorials may be made to Hays Good Samaritan Center, 27th and Canal, Hays 67601. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
