Hans Tschatschula, resident of Serbin, living with Johann Mitschke [1810], died at 10:30 p.m. on Monday, 29 November 1880 and was buried two days later in St Paul's Cemetery, Serbin, Texas. Pastor Kilian gave a brief funeral devotion at the home of Johann Mitschke based on Psalm 90:11-13, a blessing at the grave, and preached a funeral sermon based on Romans 8:10-11. Hans was born on 1 April 1810 and lived for 70 years and seven months before he lost his strength and died. He is survived by his widow, one married daughter in Texas, one son and four daughters in Europe. (Grave diggers were Christoph Schulze, Johann Proske and Johann Bartsch.)
