Loraine Snyder, 83, of Genoa, Nebraska, died Monday, December 9, 2013, at the Genoa Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Fr. Bill L'Heureux celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. vigil service all at St. Rose of Lima. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church.
Loraine Snyder was born September 11, 1930, in rural Lindsay, Nebraska, to Rudolph and Elizabeth (Wiese) Shanle. She grew up on the farm near Lindsay and attended a county school in rural Lindsay. On November 4, 1950, Loraine was united in marriage to Samuel "Dick" Snyder in Lindsay. After moving to Genoa, Loraine went to work at the East and West Haven in Genoa. She then went to work at the old Genoa Community Hospital, and transferred to the new hospital, the first day it opened, where she continued to work until her health forced her to retire in 1993. Loraine was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling. She also was an avid Nebraska football fan, and enjoyed playing cord games, such as crossword puzzles and scrabble.
