C-124A Globemaster II, s/n: 49-244; 2nd Strategic Support Squadron) ditched due to cargo fire over North Atlantic near Ireland Mar 22/23, 1951. 53 killed, no remains were ever recovered, including Captain Lawrence Edward Rafferty.
