Mrs. Alphona Ziegler Macht was born Feb. 8, 1839 in Kabler, Russia and passed away, August 2, 1934 at the ripe old age of 95 years, 8 months and 25 days, at the home of her oldest daughter, Mrs. Gottlieb Richmond at Alma, Kansas.

When a young woman she was married to Joseph Macht, Sr. To this union ten children were born.

Her husband died August 9, 1892, being 42 years ago. Five children also preceded her in death.

The five living are three daughters and two sons. Mrs. Gottlieb Richmond, Alma, Kansas; Mrs Geo. Gareis, Flush, Kans.; Mrs Antone Klug, Julesburg, Colo; Joseph Macht, Wamego, Kansas; and Gottlieb Macht, Julesburg, Colo. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, always thinking of others before herself, and doing what she could for all those in need, especially the sick. She was a faithful member of the Catholic Church.

She came to this country in 1903 with her son Joseph Macht and family, and has made her home with him and kept house for him a number of years since his wife passed away, until the last couple of years her health prevented her to do it any longer. So her daughters took turns in keeping her and taking care of her. She was always a great hand to visit all the children and do all she could for them.

The funeral services were held Saturday morning at 8 o'clock at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Friesbury officiating. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery.

The pall bearers were her grandsons, Joe Richmond, Joe Macht, John Gareis, Leo Gareis, Andrew Gareis, and George Macht.
