NORTH ATTLEBORO — Lorraine V. Wnuk, 80, of Cushman Road, a Navy veteran of World War II and a homemaker, died Thursday in the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the wife of Stephen Wnuk Sr., to whom she had been married 56 years.


Born in Biddeford, Maine, on April 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Nolette) Audet. She was a graduate of St. Matthews High School, Central Falls, R.I., and had resided in North Attleboro for 57 years, moving from Pawtucket.


Mrs. Wnuk had achieved the rank of mate third class, and had served from 1944 to 1945.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 312, South Attleboro, and served as a Brownie Troop Leader and Girl Scout Leader. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.


Mrs. Wnuk had also served as an advocate in Native American affairs, in which she had been involved for many years, and had sponsored foster children over the years. She had enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.


In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Stephen Wnuk of North Attleboro, Ronald Wnuk of Rehoboth, and Randy Wnuk of North Attleboro; a daughter, Rachael Wnuk of Burrillville, R.I.; five brothers, Arthur Audet in Maryland; Joseph Audet of Lincoln, R.I., Donat Audet of Woonsocket, R.I., Louis Audet of San Francisco, Calif., and Richard Audet of North Providence; two sisters, Louise Daniels of Lincoln, R.I., and Dorise Murphy of San Francisco; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
