BIOGRAPHY & CIVIL WARD RECORD
Frank Frost, the son of Samuel and Theodosia (Fall) Frost, was born in Global Village, Southbridge, MA on 30 Jul 1844.* His father with his family afterwards removed to Kinderhook, NY where Frank attended the public schools. From there the family moved to Providence, Rhode Island where he attended the Bridgham Grammar School. On 26 May 1862, while a student at Providence High School, Frank enlisted as a private for three months in Company B of the 10th Rhode Island Infantry. He was mustered out with his regiment on 1 Sep 1862. On 10 Sep 1862 he enlisted as a private in Company D of the 11th Rhode Island Infantry; he served with his regiment in Virginia until mustered out on 13 Jul 1863.

On 20 Jan 1864 Frost appeared before the Examining Board in Washington, D. C. where he received a commission as a 2nd lieutenant in the 14th Rhode Island Heavy Artillery. His muster date was backdated to 24 Dec 1863. He was assigned to Company M. He was detailed for service in the Chicago Mercantile Battery from 25 Jun 1864 until 5 Jul 1864. He was on duty as an officer in charge of the guards at the U. S. General Hospital in Greenville, LA in May 1865. He resigned on account of ill health on 14 Jun 1865.

After his return from the army he was a conductor for the Union Railroad Company for several years. Afterwards he worked for the Nicholson File Company, but soon after had to give the job up due to impaired health. Frank Frost died on 7 Feb 1885.**
