He was born on Nov. 1, 1915 in Minatare, Nebraska, a son of John and Madelain Gable Fox. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He married Edna Nowka in Hastings, Nebraska. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Linda Cafin, Diane Tipps and Lori Fox; a son, John Fox; three grandsons; two granddaughters and a sister, Esther Echternacht.
He worked as a carpenter and was also a business representative for Carpenters Local 44, Champaign. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and reached the rank of chief carpenter.
