Norman R. Pilla was born December 2, 1916 at Munster, Saskatchewan, Canada. The son of August a Sophie Freitag Pilla and passed away February 13, 1972 at the age of 55.

At the age of 18, he moved with his family to Chatsworth, Iowa. On July 30, 1942 he was married to LaVerna Steeneck (SD Certificate #223267, Registration #7693). The couple farmed near Alcester until 1962 when they moved into town and Mr. Pilla went to work for the City of Alcester.

He was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Mr. Pilla is survived by his wife LaVerna; two sons: Larry and Lynn both of Alcester; two daughters: Carol (Mrs. Joe Tunell) and Miss Connie Pilla also of Alcester; thirteen brothers and sisters and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
