Frederick is the 4th child of John Frederick Gorte and his wife Katherine Elisabeth Fischer. He was born in the Volga village of Reinwald and came the the US in 1902. He married Julia Kause their children are John Frederick, Kenneth E., Lawrence D. and Marilyn June Gorte.
