Eva Kopp, 82, Bismarck, died October 23, 2002, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Raleigh, with the Reverend Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in St. Gertrude Church Cemetery.
Eva was born January 28, 1920, in Raleigh. She was the daughter of Lorenz and Emmaeraus (Ternes) Loeb. Eva was raised and educated in the Raleigh area and also went to school for one year at Mankato, Minnesota. She married Anton Kopp on October 07, 1940.
Eva was a bookkeeper for many years at St. Gertrude Credit Union until the credit union moved to Flasher. Eva then became an insurance agent and worked for Farmers Union for several years. She and her husband Tony operated Tony and Eva's Grocery Store at St. Gertrude from 1957 to 1980, when Eva retired. Eva moved to Bismarck in 1990.
Eva's family was very important to her. She enjoyed traveling to New Jersey and Tennessee to visit her sons and their families and to Washington State to visit relatives. She enjoyed spending many hours in her garden, canning her harvest and sharing it with family and friends.
Eva's work ethic was evident in her personal life. It extended into her community, having given many hours in volunteer work to groups like Christian Mothers, Homemakers Club and her church circle. Her time for herself was enjoying needle work and reading. Eva's faith was most important, as it was central to how she lived her life.
Eva and Anton have five living children; one daughter and son-in-law, Virigina and Tony Fergel, Shields; and four sons and two daughters-in-law, Fredrick, Raleigh, Patrick, Memphis, Tennessee, James and Alma, Jersey City, New Jersey, and Gerald and Patricia, Vineland, New Jersey; 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Pauline Deichert and Leona (Mike) Dirk, both of Fargo; one brother, Lorenz (Emma) Loeb, Raleigh; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Loeb, Mandan.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tony, who died in 1986; three children, two girls and one boy who died in infancy; her sisters, Marie Dirk, Regina Blotsky, and Florence Bachmeier; her brothers, Ed and Peter Loeb; one sister-in-law, Emily Loeb; and two brothers-in-law, Ben Deichert and Jake Blotsky.
