Virginia A. Sturm (1920 - 2014)

OLEAN - Virginia A. Sturm, of 1502 River St., Olean, passed away Sunday (Feb. 16, 2014), at Olean General Hospital, after a brief illness.

Born on June 4, 1920, in Olean, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Ann Dutkiewicz Kwiatkowski. She was married to Douglas Sturm, who predeceased her in 1999.

Virginia attended Olean High School and was a member of Transfiguration Church.

Surviving are a son, Robert (Millie Wilk) Sturm of Orchard Park; and a daughter, Joanne (John) Getchell of Braintree, Mass.; four grandchildren, Susan (Todd) Mann of Lancaster, Robert M. (Brenda) Sturm of Atteboro, Mass., William (Renee) Sturm of Elma and Sharon (Jeff) Kocher of Hamburg; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Kwiatkowski of Olean and Joseph Kwiatkowski of Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Friday (Feb. 21, 2014), in St. John's Church, Olean. Father Edward Sheedy, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany. A Scripture wake service will be held in the funeral home at 8 p.m. Thursday.
