Richard Murray Effinger, 44, a heavy equipment operator, died Monday evening at a local hospital.
Born in Hallock, Minn., a son of Clarence and Florence Effinger, he came as a young man to Montana in 1944. He graduated from Hingham High School and attended a post graduate school in Portland. He spent most of his adult life employed as a heavy equipment operator by various construction companies. He worked on various projects here and since January had resided here with his mother.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of the VFW and Operating Engineers Local 400.
His survivors include his mother, Florence Effinger of Great Falls, and two daughters, Michelle and Barbara, both of Colstrip.
A rosary and funeral mass will be held at the O'Connor Memorial Chapel. Graveside services and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvary cemetery in Havre.
