Margaret was born September 21, 1892 in Iowa to John L. & Kathryn (Wulfekuhle) Knippling. The family moved to Buffalo Co., SD in 1909.

She married William J. Etbauer, son of John & Frances (Schawbelmeyer) Etbauer, May 7, 1913, at Stephan, SD. They were the parents of two sons; Eugene J. & Raymond J.

Margaret was a charter member of the St. Placidus Catholic Church and Altar Society.

William died November 14, 1969 after several years of failing health. He resided his last year at the nursing home in Miller. Margaret had continued to live on the home place until December 1969, at which time she moved to a trailer home on her son Eugene's place, where she enjoyed her music, a small garden, and doing her fancy work.

When Margaret's health began to fail in 1979, she moved to the nursing home in Miller, where she continued to play the organ for the residents. She passed away June 8, 1982.
