John Andrew "Pete" Besler, 53, Topeka, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1987 en route to a Topeka after he suffered a heart attach.

Mr. Besler was associated with Hogue Construction abut 15 years and recently established Besler Homes.

He was born Aug. 19, 1934 in Topeka, the son of John Andrew & Barbara Schiffelbein Besler.

Mr. Besler was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 534, Capital Civitan Club, Topeka Home Builders Association and Kansas State University Alumni Association. He was a former member of the National Guard. He was active in the Topeka Suburban Baseball League during the 1960s and 1970s.

He was married to Julia Mary Simecka May 4, 1957 in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Pamela Besler and Patricia Besler, both of Topeka; three sons, Christopher Besler, Denver, Colo., Gregory Besler, Overland Park, and Scott Besler, Topeka; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Votz, Mrs. Louise Schmidtlein and Mrs. Amerlia Smith, all of Topeka; and three grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Besler will lie in state from 2 until 9 p.m. today at Brennan Funeral Home where rosaries will be recited by the parish at 7 p.m. and Knights of Columbus Council 534 at 7:30 p.m. today.
