Rosalia was her parents second child. She was their first child born in Minnesota. They had arrived perhaps six months earlier from southwest Wisconsin. Her family were farmers. With six older half siblings and an older full sister, her folk's added seven more children after her birth.

According to her recently discovered death certificate, at the young age of eight years old, Rosalia died at home of diphtheria. Within her tight neighborhood Zion and Lake Henry Townships, over twenty children died that same summer and fall of the same--an equal number of girls and boys. The oldest child was 15 years old.

Her burial location is uncertain. Previous family speculation that at a young age she relocated to Pierz, Minnesota in the care of Jaeger relatives appears to be inaccurate. (Her county death record erroneously states she was a male. She was indeed a girl child). written by Gregory Dorr
