Funeral services were held at the Holy Cross church, Harding, at 10, Tuesday morning, for Mrs. Catherine Meyer, 85, who passed away Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Barbara Schlegel, Harding, following a stroke. She had made her home with Mrs. Schlegel for the past several years.
Celebrant of the Solemn Requiem Mass was the Rev. Joseph Wiersgalla, with the Rev. Frederick Kampsen, pastor of St. John's , Lastrup, and the Rev. J. Alfred Kroll, Holy Angels; St. Cloud, assisting. Interment was made in St. Joseph's cemetery, Pierz.
Six grandsons served as pallbearers, Leo Kruschek, Riney Faust, Bill Faust, Joe Schlegel, Willis Schlegel and Earl Schlegel.
Named for honorary pallbearers were six granddaughters, Mrs. Al Happke, Mrs. Peter Loscheider, Mrs. Al Sand, Mrs. Elmer Gross, Mrs. Loren Patton and Mrs. George Prockish.
Mrs. Meyer was born in Stearns county, the daughter of Joe Jaeger and arrived in the Pierz vicinity after her marriage Nov. 4, 1889 to William Meyer. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality, Harding.
Surviving are the following sons and daughters, William and Nick Meyer, Canyonville, Ore.; Mrs. Herman Faust (Kate), St. Cloud; Mrs. Sam Nilges (Grace) Kincaid, Kan.; Mrs. John Schlegel (Margaret), Pierz; Mrs. Barbara Schlegel, Harding; and Mrs. Jos. Schlegel, (Helen), Gresham, Oregon.
There are 54 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
All seven living children were able to attend the funeral. Preceding her in death were her husband and five children, Frank, Hubert, John, Fred and Herman, Frank being the last to pass away (1955).
