Ex-Toolmaker Dies At 83
Edward Mattes, 83, of 515 1/2 S. Washington St., died late Saturday in a local hospital following a short illness.
A native of Poland, he was a toolmaker by trade and had resided in the Lodi area about 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Mattes; two sons, Waldemar Mattes of Little Falls, N.J., and Adolf Mattes of Russia; one daughter, Mrs. Lydia Sumien of Paradise; four step-sons, Ferdinand Schultz, Otto Schulz and Oskar Schus, all of Lodi and Willi Schulz of the U.S. Army in Texas; one step-daughter, Mrs. Anna Rauter of Lodi; five sisters, Martha Mattes of Lodi, Mrs. Natalie Interment in Lodi Cemetery
