Margaret Schnell, age 77, of Ramona, SD, died at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls on October 14, 2013.
Margaret Ellen Knippling was born October 20, 1935 at Gann Valley, SD to Lambert and Alice (Kintigh) Knippling. She grew up on the family ranch in Greyhill Twp., Buffalo County. She graduated from Mount Marty High School in Yankton, SD.
She married Francis Schnell at Stephan, SD on January 9, 1954, and moved to Ramona, SD. She worked at Spies Super Value, Jubilee and Sunshine Foods for 35 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the St William Choir. She also did substitute teaching in the Ramona School District. She was a 4-H Leader and 60+ Dining Volunteer.
She is survived by her husband, Francis of Ramona;. five sons - Raymond of Chicago, IL, Leo (Debbie) of Sturgis, Tim (Jeanne) of Stevenson Ranch, CA, Mike (Beth) of Piedmont, SD and Denis of Sioux Falls;. four daughters - Eileen Schnell of Sioux Falls, Mary (Jeff) Olson of Volga, Patty Schnell of San Diego, CA, Sharon (John) Allen of Sioux Falls; nine grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; three brothers - Francis Knippling of Miller, SD, Johnny Knippling of Gann Valley, SD and Joe Knippling of Flandreau, SD; two sisters - Helen Peterson of Faulkton, SD and Carol Ann Marsh of Beaverton, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
