Leonette Ann (Tauke) Wessels, age 93, of Garnavillo, died Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the Great River Care Center in Mc Gregor. She was born on November 23, 1920 in Dyersville, IA, the daughter of William and Emma (Vaske) Tauke. Leonette received her education from the Catholic School in Dyersville and was later united in marriage to LaVern Wessels on January 6, 1942 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Dyersville. This union blessed them with five children. Leonette spent much of her life working the farm land with her husband while raising their children together. Leonette enjoyed camping and fishing with her family relishing times she would out fish her husband, LaVern. She had a knack for quilting, knitting and embroidery work. Leonette kept her outdoor beds filled with beautiful flowers. She was known for being a fabulous cook, always having something delicious on hand. Leonette had a strong faithful relationship with her church and most of all she loved taking care of her family. Those left to cherish Leonette's memory are her five children, Wayne (Susan) Wessels of Middleton Wi, Ronald (Theresa) Wessels of Onalaska Wi., Richard (Kathy) Wessels of McGregor IA, Thomas (Glenice Varley)Wessels of Ames, IA, Betty (Jeff) Heins of Luana; 12 grandchildren, William (Cassie) Wessels, Bradley Wessels, Jason Wessels, Kristin Locketz, Suzanne Wessels, Jeremy Wessels, Emily (Steve) Bayton, Holly (James) Lee, Penny (Ryan) Cunningham, Patricia (Erik) Sorbo, Candace (Cory)Drahn, Crystal (Aaron) Buzza; great grandchildren, Madeline, Greyson, and Sam Wessels; Andy, Harrison, and Ben Wessels; Sierra Wessels; Ella, Grace, and Jacob Locketz; Jack and Julia Bayton; Josephine and Emmett Lee; Brittany, Blake, and Brooklyn Cunningham; Sophia, Zachary, Emma, and Hannah Sorbo; Chanice, Chaun'te, Cedrick, and Chauncy Drahn; Avery and Abigail Buzza; brother and sisters in law, Dan (Elaine) Wessels, Jean Mensen, and Lee Ann Wessels, and many other relatives and friends.
