NEW VIENNA, Iowa - Clarence C. Tauke, 84, of Edgewood, formerly of New Vienna, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at the Edgewood Convalescent Center, following a brief illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 3 p.m. He was born on June 24, 1917, in Dyersville, son of William and Emma (Vaske) Tauke. He married Loretta L. Lammers on Nov. 23, 1939, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Petersburg. Together they farmed for 43 years, primarily in the New Vienna area, until Loretta preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 1973. He continued to live and work on the farm until moving to Edgewood, where he became a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Greeley. He enjoyed watching TV, and especially the Cubs. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ellen (Vern) Recker, of Earlville, and Nancy (Steve) Deutmeyer, of Dubuque; three sons, Ken (Norma) Tauke, of Dyersville, Tom (Joanie) Tauke, of Greeley, and Scott Tauke, of Edgewood; a son-in-law, Roger Silhanek, of Belle Plaine; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Clete (Jeanette) Tauke, of Dyersville; and a sister, Nettie (LaVern) Wessels, of Garnavillo. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Judith Ann, in 1943, and Carol Ann Silhanek, in 1977; and a grandson, Travis Deutmeyer, in 1988.
