His family members included his wife, Caroline Hoffbauer, and his children, Mrs. Leona Reinhart and Norman Koepfer. He had 5 brothers: Nicholas, Joseph, Lewis, Peter and Charles. He also had three sisters: Caroline, Mary and Mrs. Anna Holman. His children blessed him with three grandchildren as well. He lived his life as a carpenter in Alvada. The cause of his death came from a complication of many different diseases. Prior to his death he had been struggling with these illnesses for six months. He also served in the United States Navy in 1898 to 1902. He was also involved in the Spanish American war .
