Cora F. Wessels nee Landers was the daughter of Sydney Frank Landers and his wife, Lillie Effie Helm. While working as a clerk at the Stewart Dry Goods Co. in Louisville, she met George Bernard Wessels (1892-1973), an auto wheelwright. They married in 1928 and moved to Lexington, Kentucky. Their son, Bernard Edward Wessels (127981275) was born in 1929. Cora died from complications of childbirth and the infant Bernard was adopted by his paternal aunt Rose Helen (Wessels) Wessel and her husband John Henry Wessel.
