Bernard G. Wessels, 79, of 3512 Lexington Road, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday at Veterans Hospital. He was owner and founder of the Wheel and Axle Service in Lexington. He sold the firm and moved to Louisville in 1946. Wessels was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Joseph Orphan Society and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include a son, Bernard E. Wessel, of Charlestown, Ind., and five grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church, 2119 Payne St., with burial in St. Michael Cemetery.
