Irene was born on January 14, 1915 in Hays, Kansas to Jacob and Amiela (Lehr) Bersch. She married Pete Degenhart on February 3, 1937 in Sterling. She was a cook for St. Anthony's School, Rose Arber Nursing Home, and was a resident at Broadview Apartments in Greeley. She was a member of St. Anthony's in Sterling and St. Mary's in Greeley.
She is survived by her son Richard Degenhart and wife Mary of Sterling; daughter Patricia Grauberger and husband David of Greeley; daughter-in-law Dorreen Degenhart; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Pete Degenhart; son Pete Degenhart; 8 sisters; 5 brothers.
