Mrs. Gertrude Nicolaus (Bauer)

Mrs. Nicolaus, aged 69, of Monessen, passed away at her home after a lingering illness. She was born in 1859 in Bavaria Germany. She came to this country in 1892 aboard the steamship Westerland with her husband Nikolaus and their seven children. They landed at Ellis Island on Nov. 30. The Family settled near West Newton, Pa. before moving to Monessen in 1903. She was the proud Mother of 14 children.

She is survived by her husband Nikolaus, and the following children. Anna Kibbey and Mathilda Schelhas of Muskegan, Mich. Elizabeth Stubbel, Ellwood City, Gertrude Damaska, Williamsport, Mary and Cecilia Nicolaus at home. Joseph, Jacob, August, and Albert of Monessen. Reinholdt of Warren, Ohio and Julius of Andover, Ohio. There are also 31 Grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two of her sons. Mathias Nicolaus of Donora and Johan Nicolaus of Monessen.
