He was born January 7, 1927 in Surry County to the late Jesse Thomas and Ethel Inez Sumner Angel.
Mr. Angel served in the U.S. Army for his country during the Korean Conflict.
He retired as service manager from Snow's Garage after working for over 30 years; while he and his wife enjoyed farming together on days off and evenings.
Mr. Angel dearly loved his pastime as a beekeeper for many years.
Mr. Angel attended the Church of Christ at Dry Pond.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Myrtle Bowman Angel of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Roger Jackson, Mt. Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Julie Angel, Mt. Airy; six grandchildren, Roger "Dale" Jackson, Jr., Amelia Catherine Jackson, Kayla Danielle Angel, Justin Clayton Angel, Megan Ashley Angel, Emily Ann Angel; sisters, Pauline Matthews of Pilot Mountain, and Mary Ruth Angel of King; sisters-in-law, Selma Angel of Pilot Mountain and Barbara Angel of King; and numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Angel was preceded in death by a son, Brian Douglas Angel; sister, Georgia Bunn; three brothers, Jay, Edward, and Wallace Angel.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 26, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Preacher James Percival. Burial will follow in the Bowman Family Cemetery with full military rites conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
