Charles "Chuck" Wagner
August 26, 1964 - April 20, 2014

Charles (Chuck) Wagner II, 49 of Minden died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, awaiting a liver transplant. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Craig Funeral Home in Minden, with Rev. Dan Davis officiating. Burial will be at Blue Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, at Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden. He was born August 26, 1964, in Denver to Charles and Carolyn Wagner (Voss). The family moved to Nebraska when he was 12. During high school he worked at Bethphage Mission and also became a reserve officer with the Minden police department. Chuck received his diploma from Minden High School in 1982, then graduated from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in Grand Island. He served proudly as a police officer and sergeant in Minden for approximately 30 years. During his career he initiated the D.A.R.E. program for Minden Public Schools, managed the Canine Training Unit, continued his education, and trained police personnel. He was a proud father and stepfather. He took great pride in restoring antiques and his Cutlass convertible. Chuck always found humor in every situation and was quick to make you smile. Survivors include grandmother Melissa Voss, mother Carolyn Jacobsen and husband Merlyn, all of Kearney; sisters Cindy Spors and husband Jack, Shani Mildfeldt and husband Kevin, all of Minden, Sherrie Edwards and husband Matt of Omaha; children Christopher Wagner and mother Lori of Tampa, FL., Lexie Wagner and mother Trish of Franklin, Luke Pieper and Morganne Brown and their mother Shelly of Minden; nieces and nephews Rachelle Vidal, Jessica, Shannon and Kyle Spors, Amanda Mildfeldt, Noah and Olivia Edwards. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Wagner, grandparents Conrad and Marie Beeler, and grandfather Thomas Voss. Memorials are suggested to the family at 8 East 26th Street Kearney, NE 68847. All memorials will be donated to UNMC for transplant recipients and their families.
