Simon was born in Glueckstal, Kherson, South Russia, near Odessa. This town was part of Romania between WWI and WWII, then part of Moravia, and now is in Transnistria.He had a twin sister, Rosina. His parents were Philipp Bieber and Carolina Raile. He immigrated to the USA in 1893, soon after his marriage, and settled in Logan County, North Dakota. He managed a grain elevator. He moved to California in retirement.

Simon Bieber Passes Away
Simon Bieber, 79, passed away in the family home at 10 North Central Avenue Saturday evening following a long illness. Mr. Bieber has made his home in Lodi for the past year, coming here with his wife from Gackle, N.D. He was a native of Russia.
In passing he is survived by his wife, Christina, and the following children: Jacob Bieber of Watkins, Mont.; Mrs. Caroline Rath of Watkins, Ephrain Bieber of Big Timber, Mont., Mrs. Lydia Jenner of Lodi, Edward Bieber of Mandan, N.D., and Helen Rivinius of Lockeford.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon from the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. G Rauser officiating. Interment will follow in the Lodi Cemetery under the direction of the Wells Funeral Home.
