Her birth name was Juliette Amélie Schneider. She Anglicized it to Melanie by 1851.
=====
Death Of Mrs. Le Francois
Madame Le Francois, after a long-term of close confinement and suffering, entered into eternal peace and rest yesterday morning at 11:50 o'clock, of rheumatism and disease complications. The deceased lady was one of Lewiston's oldest and most prominent residents and was closely identified with the city through her large property and business interests.
She was born in Paris, France in May 1828, and removed to California in May 1850.
She was married at Grass Valley, Cal., in 1852 to Paul Bonhore, the issue being a deceased daughter, and son, Eugene, born in 1855 and is her sole survivor and legatee.
She removed to Europe and returned in 1861, and in the fall of the same year settled in Lewiston, engaging in the hotel business. Mr. Bonhore died in 1862, and in 1863 she was married to Capt. Charles Le Francois, who died in 1862.
The hotel was leased from 1875 to 1878 to Raymond Saux, and during that period she resided in California. Returning, she has kept up the hotel until the present time.
Besides her son Eugene, she leaves a sister in California and a brother in France. The funeral will be held at the Catholic church at 2 o'clock this afternoon.
