Margaret Meyer dies January 2
Margaret A. Meyer, 94, of Effingham died at I0:00p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2000, at St Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Mrs. Meyer was born June 11, 1905, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Bernard Henry and Maria Caroline (Apke) Hem men. She married Alfred U. Meyer. He died in 1955.
She was retired from the dietary department at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Effingham and St. Anthony Council of Catholic Women.
Surviving are one son, Alfred "Al" of Weimar, California, USA; three daughters, Catherine "Katie" Kroeger and Shirley Heuerman, both of Effingham, Mrs. George (Pauline) Lueken of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 5:30 p.m. Council of Catholic Women rosary and a 6:30 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Parish Hall Building Fund or the donor's choice.
