Alfred Dixon was born in Ashe Co., NC. the son of James Dickson and Catherine Dick. Alfred Dixon married Narcessa McMillan about 1840 in Ashe Co., NC. Alfred Dickson enlisted on 07-13-1864 at Flint Hill, Ashe County, NC, NC Co. B 5th North Carolina Senior Reserves, listed as AWOL on 02-28-1865, he was a prison guard. Changed his name from Dickson to Dixon during the Civil War.

Narcessa McMillan was born December 15, 1821 Ashe Co., NC & d. after 1854 in WV. She was the daughter of James McMillan and Thursa Gambill.
