An emigrant to this country in 1864, Mr. Knobel was the son of Andrew & Rachel (Hefty) Knobel, who lived and died in Canton Glarus, Switzerland. He spent the first ten years in New York where on September 12th, 1874, he was married to Miss Louise Stanfield. Immediately following the wedding they came to Green County, Wisconsin, where they settled in Jordan township. To them were born: Annie in 1876 who married Jacob Stauffacher; Emily; and Alfred George "Fred".
