Mr. Gerling was born July 10, 1918 in Topeka, Kansas. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a longtime employee of ITT Industry.
Mr. Gerling was the husband of Irene E., nee Wilcynski; father of Carol (David) Mirowski and Linda (Richard) Allard; grandfather of Andrea and Vincent; brother of Anna (the late Richard) Stark, John (Evelyn) Gerling, Barbara (Ted) Kozlowski and Rose (the late Robert) Wilzewski, the late Peter Gerling Sr. and Joseph Gerling.
Visitation was held May 13 in Lewis Funeral Home, Elmwood Park. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 14 in St. Celestine Church, Elmwood Park. Interment was in Maryhill Cemetery, Niles.
