Actor. He was born as Siegfried Aron in Hamburg (Germany) and died in Woodland Hills (California). He began his career on stage, but soon he moved to cinema. He worked in Germany, and at the start of the Second World War, he moved to United States, where developed the rest of his work, playing in over 150 films. He debuted in 1920, in the film Die Rote Katze. Also, he appeared in Die Büchse der Pandora (1927), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939), The Great Dictator (1940), It Started with Eve (1941) and The Palm Beach Story (1942). He was nominated for Broadway's 1958 Tony Award as Best Supporting or Featured Actor (Dramatic) for "Time Remembered."
