Peter was the son of Josiah Beckett (Bockitt) and Mary Johnson. He married Ann McDermott.

Note: Peter is identified as the son of Josiah Beckett by genealogist George M. Beckett (1944). It seems possible, however, that he could have been the son of Peter Beckett (d. 1796) instead. See Josiah's memorial for further explanation.
