Mary Ann Harriet Susan Thomas was the daughter of James Edward and Lucy (Proctor) Thomas. She married David J. Tyree, Jr., on June 15, 1846, in Letcher County, KY. They had at least nine children: William John Tyree, Greenberry Houston Tyree, Sarah (Tyree) Collins, Benjamin E. Tyree, Samuel C. Tyree, Margaret E. (Tyree) Halcomb, Lucinda (Tyree) Hale, David Jesse Tyree, and Rachel (Tyree) Brown.
