David J. Tyree, Jr., was the son of David and Rachel (Rogers) Tyree, Sr. He married Mary Ann Harriet Susan Thomas on June 15, 1846, in Letcher County, KY. They had at least nine children: William John Tyree, Greenberry Houston Tyree, Sarah (Tyree) Collins, Benjamin E. Tyree, Samuel C. Tyree, Margaret E. (Tyree) Halcomb, Lucinda (Tyree) Hale, David Jesse Tyree, and Rachel (Tyree) Brown.
