OBITUARY: Edward Merta, 82 - reprinted from the May 25, 1994 Pierce County Herald

Edward Merta died suddenly at his home Thursday, May 17, 1994. He was 82.

He was born March 21, 1912 to Rudolph and Theresa (Kordosky) Merta. He was a lifetime farmer in Pierce County.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; sons, Robert, Gerald (Carol) and Donald (June); daughter, Mary; family friend, Kenneth Majeski; grandchildren, Joe, Daniel, Cris, Laura and Valerie Merta; sisters-in-law, Lucille Pechacek and Gertrude Merta; nieces nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Merta and his parents.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 19 at St. Francis Catholic Church, with Father Thomas Donaldson officiating. Interment was in St. Martin's Cemetery, Cherma.

Pallbearers were Calvin, Dale and Peter Pechacek, Frank Maier, Alvin and Alfred Kordosky.

Cashman Mortuary of River Falls handled arrangements.
