Alice Merta, age 93, of River Falls, died on Friday, Feb. 12, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn.
Alice was born the daughter of John and Mary (Kordosky) Pechacek on March 22, 1922. She was married to Edward Merta on Oct. 30, 1945. They farmed together. Alice was an active member of Cherma Church. She enjoyed gardening and being a mother and grandmother. She was a happy person, who had very positive influence on those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Merta; and brothers, Lud and Fred Pechacek.
Alice is survived by her children, Jerry (Carol) Merta, Mary Merta, Donald (June) Merta, and Robert Merta; grandchildren, Chris (Michelle) Merta, Joe (April) Merta, Valerie (Adam) Ripley, Dan (Heather) Merta and Laura (Lance) Place; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, at St. Bridget Church in River Falls. Memorial visitation will also be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church. Spring Interment will be in Cherma Cemetery.
