Mrs. Anna Mortenson, a former resident & pioneer of Pope County, died at the home of her son, L. E. Mortenson, near Pequot in Cass County last Sat.

Funeral services were held there & the remains were then shipped to Pope county & funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Wed. at the Lars Ellertson cemetery 2 miles south of the East Zion church where some of the oldest pioneer settlers are buried. Rev. K. R. Palmer conducted the services.

Mrs. Mortenson was born on Nov. 17, 1841 at Tromsør, Norway; and thus was over 90 years of age at the time of her death. She was married in Norway to Ole Mortenson in 1858. They came to America in 1871, coming directly to Pope County & settled on a farm in Langhei. Upon the death of her husband in 1912, she went to make her home with L. E. Mortenson family in Cass County.

Eleven children were born to Mr. & Mrs. Mortenson, of whom only 4 survive her. They are Lewis & Charlie of Pequot, & Edwin & Mrs. Albert Arness, who live in Oregon. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Dorothea Setter, of Morris, & Mrs. Regina Johnson of Belgrade, & a brother, Edward Ellertson, of Starbuck.
