Clement passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at the Faulkton Healthcare Center in Faulkton. Clement Vogel was born Nov. 14, 1909, to John and Josephine (Detterman) Vogel at Marion Junction, S.D. At the age of 2, his sister Louise was born and his mother died from complications of child birth. The family later moved to a farm near Hosmer, S.D., where he was raised and attended rural schools. Clement married Barbara Daschle Oct. 25, 1932, at St. John's Catholic Church at Hillsview, S.D. They lived on a farm near Hillsview for a short time. He later managed a farm near Bowdle, S.D., until he was able to purchase a farm north of Onaka where they resided for 38 years. In 1979, Clement and Barbara became residents of Onaka. In November of 2002, they moved to the Faulkton Healthcare Center. They celebrated 73 years of marriage, Oct. 25, 2005. Clement loved farming. After they made their home in Onaka, he continued to drive his pickup out to area farms to help where ever he was most needed. Clement was a person of prayer, devoted to his family, and always took life very seriously especially when he had to decide what was best for the family. At the age of 92, he decided maybe it was time to retire. He enjoyed reading which kept him busy during his retirement. Clement's wife Barbara just passed away Jan. 23, 2006. Grateful for having shared his life are four sons, Leroy (Esther) Vogel of Mobridge, S.D., Richard (Rosalie) Vogel of Onaka, S.D., Bernard (Linda) Vogel of Faulkton, S.D., and Dwight (Patty) Vogel of Onaka, S.D.; three daughters, Loretta (Gary) Arntz of Bismarck, N.D., Joan (Jerome) Fuhrmann of Brentwood, Calif., and Mary (Dave) Rausch of Hoven, S.D.; three sisters, Clara Keifer of White Lake, S.D., Margaret Menzia of Aberdeen, and Tillie (Bud) Clark of Laverne, Minn.; one brother, Norbert (Mary Ellen) Vogel of Mankato, Minn.; 31 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren.
